Leaves:
Flat grass-like blade growing from base. Flower Stems often sheathed with a leaf.
Plant:
Leaves and Stems grow from root in a broad clump.
General Comments:
Many varieties grow in the area includeing angustifolium with pale flowers growing from the middle of a leaf-like bract on long stems, and montanum and mucronatum which have darker flowers growing from the top of the leaf-like brach, the latter has very slender leaves.
