Composite flowers with drooping rays. Green Mexican Hat has yellow-green columnar disk and yellow rays which have two uneven lobes.

Pinnatedly compounded with uneven division.

To 3', highly branched.
General Comments:
The Redspike species is more common in Houston than the Green species. It is also taller and has a larger flower.
